Agugn
Artist
Agung Prabowo (Bandung 1985), who works under the name ‘Agugn’, graduated from the Graphic Art major at ITB Bandung. Ever since, he has been exploring various printmaking techniques, focussing mostly on linocuts. Agugn has attempted to push the boundaries between printmaking and installation, delving into topics such as fear, nature, and shamanistic cultures. Such themes have been his drive for making his art, which includes anthropomorphic and psycho analysis perspectives.
Agugn held his first solo exhibition,’Natural Mystic’ in Bentara Budaya Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Solo, and Bali. The opportunity for this collection of exhibitions derived from his first prize which he received for the Triennale Seni Grafis Indonesia 4 in the year 2012.
Since then he has joined many group exhibition both nationally and internationally, including ‘Termasuk: contemporary art from Indonesia’ in Darren Knights galler in Sydney in the year 2019; ‘Multilayered - new print 2018/summer’, in the International Print Centre New York and ‘Java - art energy’ at Institut des Cultures d’Islam, in Paris, 2018. Here he displayed his installation that had been displayed in the 2017 exhibition ‘re emergence’ at Selasar Sunaryo Artspace. His latest solo show was held in Machida City Museum of Graphic Arts, Tokyo, Japan, called ‘Imprint’ Machida 2020 from stranger to neighbor: Machida seen from the artist.
