Dewa Made Johana

Dewa Made Johana (Silungan, 1994) is a young artist, whom, as one of few artists in Bali, creates his works by way of printmaking. Jo (as many know him) started to explore printmaking during his education at Undiksha (Ganesha University of Education), majoring in fine art.

Many of his earlier works are constructs of linocut and carborundum print techniques. In the last of a couple of years Jo has started to develop his works using old archive photos which he fuses into print works with combination of Relief Priting, Intaglio processes and Cyanotype. Through this process, Jo's works step into the realm of preservation.

During the last 4 years, Jo has been actively involved in numerous group exhibitions. Many exhibitions took place in Bali, as well as Java, exhibiting in Bandung, Yogyakarta and Surabaya in galleries and art spaces like Bentara Budaya Bali, Neka Art Museum, Puri Lukisan Museum, Gallery Maya, All Caps Gallery, Bale Banjar Sangkring, the 3rd ASEAN graphic arts competition and exhibition, Sika Gallery, Artsphere Gallery, BEA 2021, Titik Dua Ubud, and the latest one joining Art Moments Jakarta 2021 with the Puri Art Gallery.
